It's December and I'm excited!
Apart from it being one of my favorite sister's birthday (all my sisters are my favs 🥰), and the holidays, it's also host to two of the most important fight PPV's in 2019.
First up is AJ Ruiz 2. Many (including me) argue that a loss to AJ spells the end of his boxing career. Man's got everything on the line and I hope that translates to better strategies and guts when he climbs back into the ring on December 7th.
Second is UFC 245! There are so many awesome matches and THREE TITLE MATCHES on the card that I already have wine and food budget that night mapped out. Any of the 3 title matches could easily headline the show and still get the stands packed!
First title match is between double champ Amanda Nunes vs Germaine de Ranamie. Even since Amanda beat WWE NXT champion, Shayna Baszler in 2015, it seems she has been on a mission to destroy every excellent female MMA fighter. Her legacy as the greatest UFC female competitor in history is all but cemented with clinically brutal wins over Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko and Christiane Cyborg. In fact, Germaine’s only loss in the Octagon was to Amanda. I expect this match to be her second loss. Sorry.
Second is Max Holloway vs Volkanovski. The challenger has used his athletism and aggressive style to bulldoze his way up the rankings and I expect this to be a fierce match even though I believe the Hawaiian champ's techniques and craftiness will be too much for him to handle.
The last is Colby vs Kamaru Usman. I hate this match up because they are evenly matched in stats, style and everything else. I hate Colby even more and I'd sacrifice a goat to the MMA gods to have Usman get a decisive KO win.
Speaking of sacrifices to the MMA gods, I'll sacrifice goats and rams to have the Khabib vs Tony Ferguson fight happen this time around. It's been canceled 5 times before now FFS!
Cheers to a beautiful December. 🥂
